The Refugee Project

A three-hour simulation transforms groups into refugees, escaping for their lives…

Separated into “families” from various countries and transformed by ethnic clothing, groups must memorize their biographies Students role play refugees' experiencesbefore visiting

  • the US Department of State
  • a refugee feeding station
  • a medical screening clinic

Families must pass interviews at each of these stations in order to “escape to freedom.”

Since June 2002, over 2,500 people and 51 churches, schools, and non-profit organizations have participated in this life-changing experience in Seattle’s International District.

Cost varies with size of your group and includes an ethnic sandwich.  A non-refundable deposit of $100 secures a reservation.
